Problem Statement |
|
Society promotes physical activity for people of all ages and encourages individuals to take part in exercise and sports. A device that alerts these participants of potential physical harm can help prevent both physical injuries and overworking the body. By taking the necessary precautions, athletes can play their sports safely and enjoyably.
|
Objective |
|
The objective of our project is to monitor the health and improve the safety of players during their regular practices by incorporating multiple sensors to measure body temperature, heart rate and impact force experienced by the body.
|
Design Requirements |
|
- Device must monitor core body temperature
- Device must measure impact forces to the body
- Device must measure dehydration
- Device must measure heart rate
- Device must record all monitored signals
- If any monitored metric of 1, 2, 3, and/or 4 exceed specified range, user must be notified
- Device must operate on battery power
- Electronics must properly function under different conditions that support athletic activities
- The device must not inhibit regular athlete motion
- The device must be comfortable for athletes to wear during sports related activities
- The cost of constructing the device must fit within a budget
- Device must be safe to use
